Mobile User Interface
Urban Hikes
Project Type
Overview
The purpose of this project was to create a speculative mobile application that could offer users an alternative to mountain hiking in urban areas. Urban Hikes allows the user to create their own hikes that can be focused on downtown attractions or other activities such as hikes through popular shopping areas or art districts. Once the created hike is approved it can be shared with other users.
Process and Development
The early process work included creating user personas. The developed personas are intended to give an overview of the devices and social media sites each user prefers as well as the goals and concerns of each.
A content map was developed to visualize the different options and menus available to the user when progressing through the application. The groups and events menu options were added to allow users to create groups of friends with similar hike interests so they could organize hiking events together.
Wireframes
After over viewing personas and the content map, wireframes were created to reflect the main focus of the application. The primary focus was on overviewing hike information. This included showing user’s the hike they could conduct in an urban environment, safely guiding them on the hike and giving them the option to review their experience.
Final User Interface Mockups
The final user interface was developed to show the user logging in, choosing a hike and successfully completing it. To best provide an overview of the application I also included a screen that shows the other menu options.
